Picking the Right Wedding Venue During the Winter

Published on 11-18-2022

If you're getting married during the winter, choosing the right venue is crucial. You want to find a space that's beautiful and warm, but also affordable and available when you need it. Here are a few things to consider when choosing a wedding venue during the winter months:

Consider indoor options. If you're getting married in December or January, it's important to find a space that can accommodate guests who may be coming from out of town as well as vendors who might not be able to work outside in cold weather. Many venues have indoor ceremony spaces, which can be perfect for winter weddings.

Look at hotels with ballrooms and meeting spaces. Many hotels have ballrooms that can be rented out for events like weddings, which are generally large enough to hold everyone in your bridal party and family with plenty of extra space for dancing or mingling afterward. Hotels also tend to be more affordable than other types of venues like banquet halls or churches, making them an excellent option if your budget is tight!

Consider the weather. The first thing to think about is whether there will be snow on the ground during your wedding date. If there's no snow or if it's not supposed to snow, then you should be fine. But if there are high chances of snowfall on your wedding day, then that changes things significantly. You'll have to make sure that your guests can get there safely and comfortably and that everything is set up in advance so as not to ruin anyone's night with bad weather or traffic delays.

Choose a dress with sleeves: It might seem counterintuitive, but picking a dress with sleeves can actually help keep you warm during your outdoor ceremony. A sleeveless gown will leave your arms exposed as they hang down at your sides during photos (which is fine), but if you're standing still for too long during those portraits, you could start to feel chilly very quickly! So make sure that your dress has long sleeves that'll keep you warm while you're posing for pictures and greeting guests.

The best time of year to get married depends on what type of venue you want. If you want a garden-inspired wedding, then spring is probably the best choice. If you want an indoor or outdoor party with lots of activities, then summer might be better suited for your event. And if you prefer a more intimate affair with family and friends, fall could be perfect for your needs.
